Huge Mole Falls Off in 14 Days

This comes from my friend whose client had this mole on his face for years, and has had others removed with laser treatments, leaving behind scarring afterward. In this case he used oregano (carefully placed only on the mole), melaleuca (to fight infection when the mole started to break down), and frankincense (to promote healing and help with scar tissue). He used these oils for FOURTEEN DAYS, and look at the result! On the 14th day, the edges of the mole lifted up, and the whole thing came off.

Oils on a Toddler's Bumped Head

A mom used oils to support the body's response to pain and swelling after her toddler ran into a door. I sure wish I had oils when my oldest was a toddler!

Oils Support Body's Soothing Response to Cat Scratch

While the family was having our Christmas Day Skype call with our missionary daughter, our adult son, who was visiting, held his cat in front of the camera directly over where our younger son was sitting with us on the couch. The cat was not happy with this and scampered away as quickly as she could. Our younger son was crying and then we noticed that he had a deep, long scratch on his leg which was getting very swollen. He is allergic to cats so we don't normally have them around him, and this really looked like an allergic reaction. I kind of freaked out but launched into action, thinking I should grab melaleuca, lavender, and On Guard. And me being me, I also couldn't resist taking a "before" picture before I applied the oils. I applied them approximately every 15 minutes for an hour, taking a picture each time. After only 26 minutes, the swelling is barely noticeable! I am so grateful for these oils!! I can't stress enough how important it is to be prepared with oils and education so you can act quickly in these first aid situations.

Coconut Milk Sour Cream Base for Dips and Spreads. Gluten Free Dairy Free Sour Cream.

When I took my first taste of this, for a moment I totally forgot that it did not include dairy. It is amazing to me how easy it is to disguise coconut flavor! When you trick your own taste buds, well that's something. Use herbs and spices you have on hand combined with doTERRA essential oils to customize this sour cream to whatever flavor you want. Use a toothpick to add the oils, since a little goes a long way.

1/2 cup cream skimmed from the top of a can of full-fat coconut milk (I used Thai Kitchen)
2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Himalayan salt or sea salt, to taste
doTERRA essential oils to taste and/or garlic powder, Mrs. Dash, etc.

Chill the can of coconut milk so that the cream separates from the liquid; reserve the liquid for smoothies. Combine cream with coconut oil, then stir in other ingredients. Chill until firm enough to use as a dip or spread.

Variation #1, Cream Cheese: Use more coconut oil, and a dash or two of smoked paprika to warm up the color.

Variaton #2, Smoked Salmon Spread: Make the cream cheese version, then mix in some canned salmon, more lemon juice, and liquid smoke. I didn't have salmon so I used tuna and added some smoked paprika to make it pale pink and add a nice flavor.

Lime Snowball Cookies. Gluten Free Dairy Free Vegan.

These cookies were phenomenal! I do not think anyone would guess that they were GFCF. You can make lots of variations to this recipe, adding chopped nuts, omitting the citrus ingredients, adding mini chocolate chips, etc.

I based my recipe on this one: http://www.food.com/recipe/a-big-dose-of-lime-snowball-cookies-145013

2 cups Pamela's gluten-free flour mix
1 cup coconut oil, in solid form
1/2 cup powdered sugar, plus extra for dusting
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons fresh lime or lemon juice
zest of one lime or lemon
8-16 drops of doTERRA lime essential oil (start slow and taste as you go)

Preheat oven to 350. If the coconut oil is solid, combine all ingredients except essential oil with your hands (the heat from your hands will melt the coconut oil just right). Gradually add the essential oil and taste the dough until you like the flavor. Form walnut-sized balls of dough and baked them on parchment-lined ungreased cookie sheets for 15-20 minutes or until brown around the edges. Remove from oven and dust tops of cookies with powdered sugar while still warm.

Note: If you add chopped nuts and omit the citrus, use another liquid such as dairy-free milk to replace the citrus juice.

Vegan GFCF Chocolate Chip Cookies That My doTERRA Friends Loved

This is the recipe that I know some people are using and will be looking for. But I have improved it even more. I will post the even better ones in a separate post.

Rather than look for specifically vegan or gluten-free recipes for things (which often look kind of weird) I like to take a typical recipe and make my own substitutions. I made these for a doTERRA training I attended, and lots of people wanted the recipe. When I make these cookies with butter, they spread, puff up, then crinkle down as they cool. (To me, this is the sign of an idea chocolate chip cookie.) However, this doesn't always happen when I use coconut oil, so to get a similar bumpy look, I poke the scoops of dough in a few places with my fingers before baking. The cookies are based on this recipe:

1 3/4 cups Pamela's gluten-free flour blend
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon sea salt (In my opinion you need this much salt because you are not using butter)
1/2 cup Trader Joe's organic coconut oil, in liquid state
1/2 cup Trader Joe's organic brown sugar
1/2 cup Trader Joe's organic white sugar
1 teaspoon gluten-free vanilla
2 tbsp. ground flax seed mixed with 6 tbsp. water until gel-like
1 1/2 cups Trader Joe's chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350. Mix oil, sugars, and vanilla, then flax mixture. Stir in dry ingredients. Add chocolate chips (you can use less). Scoop onto cookie sheet and use your finger to press down each scoop of cookie dough in random spots (don't just press down the whole cookie or it won't look as good). (I like to bake one test cookie first to see how it behaves and if I need to press it down first.) Bake for 8-10 minutes.

Incredibly Fabulous Three-Ingredient GFCF Vegan Chocolate Truffles Using doTERRA Essential Oils

These truffles are almost good for you.
These truffles were my Thanksgiving Miracle of 2013. I used the recipe to make a chocolate pie, then made the leftovers into truffles. They passed the test of my friend who is a caterer and lover of all things dairy. She could not believe there was no dairy in these.

1 can full-fat coconut milk, chilled (I used Thai Kitchen organic)
12 oz. Trader Joe's chocolate chips
doTERRA essential oils for flavoring, such as peppermint or wild orange (optional)
Shredded coconut, nuts, cocoa powder, crushed organic dye-free peppermints, etc.

Open the can of coconut milk and drain off any liquid (you can use it in a smoothie), then dump it in a saucepan with the bag of chocolate chips and melt them together until combined. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then stir in essential oils (start with just a drop, especially of peppermint) until desired flavor is reached. Chill in the fridge for at least two hours.

Form chocolate mixture into balls and roll in desired crumbly stuff. Keep in fridge until time to serve.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The first time I made these they were fine but the truffle mixture was too soft, even after chilling. To redeem this situation, I melted 1/4 cup coconut oil and stirred it into the truffle mixture, then chilled it again before forming the truffles.

Deeply Cracked Heels Healed!

My friend, who wishes to remain anonymous (but who is not the same anonymous friend who has the toenail fungus!) was reluctantly willing to send me a "before" photo of her deeply cracked and painful heels on November 11, 2013, as she sought an oil solution to the problem.

Voila! Three weeks later, after applying doTERRA Melaleuca followed by virgin coconut oil and cotton socks every night before bed, look how much better they look!

Three weeks, people!!

Four Photos of Baby Whose Infected Skin is Clear with the Support of Oils

Click on the photo to enlarge it.

See this post for the protocol that the baby's mom used.

Here is the text I received from his mother on September 3, 2013: "I hope your friend has the same success with the oils as we did. I will pray for her. I remember how distraught I was when I first saw Jeanette Fransen, Naturopath. I honestly believe I had a mini nervous breakdown at that time. I was beside myself trying to find a doctor who would help my baby. I know there are many people out there facing the same challenges for any number of health issues. There are answers out there that shouldn't be so hard to find. I'm seriously considering going back to all the doctors we saw and telling them to open their minds to something other than drugs to heal people. How insane that simple oils have changed my and my son's lives. And I had to search and search to find it. Keep up the good work. You are saving lives. Truly."

Let's Talk About Toenail Fungus!

A friend of mine (who wishes to remain anonymous) told me that she spent $800 on laser surgery for toenail fungus that she had had for TWELVE years, and it didn't work.

Now, for the past six weeks she has applied doTERRA Melaleuca to her toenails three times a day. Her nail is growing in clean and white!

Protocol for Mercury Filling Removal

This is the protocol I used when I had my mercury fillings removed in January of 2013. I used an "environmental dentist" but I wasn't convinced that the vacuum and rubber dam he used were sufficient to protect me from injesting or inhaling more mercury during the procedure. Note that this is something I did for myself and am not qualified to "prescribe" it for anyone else. Purchase Cilantro from doTERRA, Chlorella and Zeotin from Jeanette Fransen, Naturopath's online store: naturaleuropeanmedicine.com. Jeanette also recommended the 200 version of Arnica Montana but I didn't use that.

1 Day Before Procedure:
20 drops Zeotin 3x/day
25 Chlorella that evening
5 drops Cilantro

Day of Procedure + next 2 days:
40 drops Zeotin 4x/day
25 Chlorella 4x/day
5 drops Cilantro 4x/day

For the Next Few Days:
20 drops Zeotin 3x/day for about a week
25 Chlorella 4x/day for about 4 more days
5 drops Cilantrol 4x/day for about 4 more days

Recently, I started taking Frankincense, DDR Prime, and Chlorella every day because I know there are still metals in my system from all these years.

Transformation of a Formerly Chronically Ill Young Woman

Disclaimer: I am not a physician. I am a mother wanting to share helpful information with others, the kind of wisdom that has been handed down from mother to daughter for thousands of years. You are responsible to use your best judgment. The statements here have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This blog, and products discussed herein, are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. This is a sketch of what my friend did but not a prescription or recommendation but rather a jumping-off point to help others orchestrate their own healing.

I met this new friend about a month ago and was amazed at her story. She had a collection of debilitating symptoms and a stack of medical papers three inches thick, and no MDs were able to help her. She is a smart, organized, young professional woman in the mental health field and was at the end of her rope when she found doTERRA essential oils and got her life back with the guidance of her naturopath, Jeanette Fransen. In the years I've known naturopath Jeanette, I've learned that a lot of these chronic illnesses (including the collection of medical conditions that cause autism) can be narrowed down to repopulating the gut with good bacteria, and eliminating pathogens, toxins, and foods that cause inflammation. Here is a PARTIAL list of my friend's diagnoses and symptoms:

Lyme disease
Staph infection
Adrenal disorder
Brain inflammation
Multiple autoimmune disorders
Adrenal disorder
Epstein-Barr virus (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia)
Paralyzed colon (needing colostomy bag as time wore on)
Limited liver function
Kidney dysfunction
Reoccurring Tonsillitis
Reoccurring Sinus infections
Severe joint pain that caused her to walk with a cane
Fatigue that did not resolve with sleep
Yellowing skin from jaundice and intermittent kidney and liver failure
Asthma attacks
Reoccurring Ear infections
Chronic yeast infections
Estrogen Dominance
Painful cysts in breasts

My friend freely shared her notes with me but wants to add that she felt it was very important to eat right, do colonics, and saunas, and that those practices combined with doTERRA essential oils were the perfect healing combination. (I don't know anything about colonics and saunas, only that you would want to do these things with care, wisdom, and professional guidance.) The "after" photo above was taken after ninety days on doTERRA oils, 6 weeks of saunas, 12 colonics, and eating super healthy.

She also points out that the notes I have transcribed below came from her initial consult before she ever started using oils. Her protocol evolved over the three-month healing period, and she took new oils to accommodate the healing symptoms that came up. She was on Melissa oil for about a month (using two bottles) and also used a lot of Frankincense. She added Geranium and Clary Sage for a while to help with hormones.

Note that only doTERRA essential oils are safe to take internally (as long as there are nutrition facts on the label). I'm assuming that most or all of what my friend took internally she put in a capsule although I know that some people put oils under their tongue or swallow them with water.

Also note that although it is not mentioned here, Jeanette Fransen now recommends DDR Prime, which promotes cell apoptosis, for any serious condition. (See discoverbrilliantsolutions.com August 2013 webinar featuring Jeanette's presentation on DDR Prime.)

The following protocol was strictly adhered to for 3 months and then tapered off for the following 3 months (using only oils she felt her body still needed or oils to address any lingering symptoms) until after 6 months she only kept using Life Long Vitality, DDR Prime, and Frankincense.

To soothe and help with digestion:
DigestZen (5 drops orally 3x/day and rub on belly 3x/day)

For Parasites and Viruses:
2 drops each of MelaleucaOreganoThyme, and Lemon, internally 2x/day
(Roman Chamomile was added during the second and third months of treatment, beginning 1 week before the full moon and continued 1 week after the full moon. Parasites hatch during a full moon and this protocol ensures you're more likely to kill them.)

Only use Oregano for 10 day intervals, stop for 10 days, and then go back on for a second time. Then switch to Thyme only and exclude Oregano.

For Inflammation, Metal Detox, and Mood Support:
2 drops each of LemonCilantroGrapefruit and 2-3 drops Frankincense, internally 2x/day

For Pain and Inflammation:
5 drops of Frankincense 3x/day under the tongue, and applied over the belly/liver, as needed.
Deep Blue Rub for instant pain relief.

For Cellular Repair:
1 drop Helichrysum internally 3x/day

For Paralyzed Colon, Migraines, Asthma:
2 drops Marjoram internally 2x/day

To Repopulate the Gut with Good Bacteria:
Water kefir (natural homegrown probiotic) starting with 1 tsp. and gradually increasing.

For Joint Pain, Fatigue, and Cellular Healing:
Lifelong Vitality Pack vitamins, 10 of the 12 daily pills in the morning and 2 at night. (Note that some people might want to start slowly on this and work their way up to 12 pills a day, as some people feel sick when they start with the full dose.)

Short-Term (I don't know where this falls in the timeline. This is about a 3-4 week protocol, I recall):
GX Assist (for parasites, viruses, pathogenic microorganisms)
Candida cleanse (see everythingessential.me or search on "vimeo Laura Jacobs Candida" for protocol)

Emotional Balance (Apply to pressure points, bottoms of feet, and/or diffuse):
Elevation (JOY. For stress, as antidepressant, promotes feelings of self-worth.)
Serenity (CALMING. For ADD, anger, anxiety, mood swings, stress, teeth grinding, problems and emotional balance.)
Citrus Bliss (INVIGORATING. For calming, antidepressant, immune system and emotional support, apathy, sadness.)
Balance (GROUNDING. For anxiety, confusion, energy, grief/sorrow, mood swings.)
Also consider LavenderYlang Ylang, and Wild Orange.

--Green smoothies every day.
--Juice greens and colors every day.
--No gluten, dairy, corn, sugar, or food from a box.

In conclusion, if you met this young woman today, you would never know that she had so many struggles. It is so exciting to see that her body can now support her zest for life!

Manage Mood, Mind, and Sleep: Presentation by Laura Jacobs

This is about a year old so it doesn't include a couple of the newest products but is full of excellent information about mental wellness and how doTERRA essential oils can help.

What it Feels Like to be Off Meds and Free of Anxiety

My dear friend who had been on anti-anxiety medication for many years, has spent the past few months working with naturopath Jeanette Fransen, to help her body heal itself of anxiety and sensory processing disorder, as well as weaning herself off prescription medication. She shared this list with me in August 2013 and gave me permission to share it with others. She has used nutrition, supplements, homeopathics, and doTERRA essential oils in her healing journey. Since she wrote this she has taken care of some residual anxiety by applying a drop of Melissa to the roof of her mouth in the morning and the evening. I am so grateful to my friend for sharing such personal and poignant feelings with us.

"How I feel now"

I don't care that the cereal bowls aren't stacked in order by color.

I don't care that the kitchen counter is cluttered.

I don't mind that there are things on my to-do list that are not done.

I feel like I should be annoyed by my five-year-old snapping the shark head toy all over the living room, but I'm really not that annoyed. If anything, I'm annoyed, not bugged sensorily.

I feel the ends of my fingers and my feet. I never realized that I wasn't feeling them before, but now I can distinctly feel them.

Sometimes I feel like I could fly. I feel light and airy and wanting to move my body.

I feel like I don't so much care what other people think. Instead of being concerned about every conversation that I have, I think about it for a minute and forget it.

I can tune out what other people are saying and literally not hear it.

I feel like I'm less easily offended by injustices. If someone is unfairly rude, I just brush it off instead of feeling this deep sense of hurt.

I feel like I want to watch my children and marvel at what they do.

I feel like I don't so much care about what I eat. I can take it or leave it. There are very little cravings.

I feel like I have a better sense of direction. I don't have to constantly look at a map to understand or remember how to get somewhere.

Sometimes I wake up in the morning feeling especially bright and excited for the day. I never felt like I was waking up depressed before or anything, but now it just feels like a weight has lifted, and the sun is shining brighter. I think that as I continue I will feel this brightness more and more.

Coconut Lime Cookies (gluten-free, vegan, with doTERRA Lime oil)

1 cup Trader Joe's organic white sugar
1/2 cup Trader Joe's coconut oil, in liquid form
1 flax egg (1 tbsp. ground flax seed + 3 tbsp. water)
Juice of one organic lime
Zest of one organic lime
10 drops doTERRA lime essential oil
1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1 1/3 cups Pamela's gluten free flour blend
1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Preheat oven to 350. Combine everything except the flour, salt, baking powder and soda, then stir those in. Then take a bite of the dough because it is delicious! Scoop onto baking sheet and bake for about 8 -12 minutes.

You could roll these in more sugar first; they were a little on the tart side. You could also roll them in coconut.

This recipe is still a work in progress as I wasn't able to get them to puff up and crinkle down as they would if I had used butter, so you will either want to flatten them after scooping, or roll them out and cut them out with cookie cutters.

doTERRA Oils for Dogs' Ear Issues, TerraShield for Bugs

This just came in from Tiffany:

"Both of my dogs are getting doTERRA ear treatments that are working so well! My oldest dog received an initial cleaning with geranium but now both dogs are getting cleaned every couple days with just a bit of lavender. It has totally cleaned up their ears and calmed down the itchy, pink patches.

My 13 year old shih tzu, who looks like he ran his face flat into a wall at full speed, has issues with fungal type growths in the skin folds below his eyes and around his nose. Melaleuca with coconut oil for two days and it is totally cleared up! YAY! Probably saved myself $100 minimum at the vet with that one.

Finally, I spray both dogs with a heavily diluted mixture of Terrashield every few days and it keeps the gnats and mosquitos off them!"

Great report, Tiffany!

Lavender Heals Large Diabetic Foot Wound

My friend has total neuropathy in both feet, wears metal braces on her legs, and has to visually inspect her feet every day to make sure they have not been injured. She has had serious wounds and infections in the past and has even broken bones in her feet because she can't feel them. She emailed the following testimonial to me, and gave me permission to post it along with an "after" photo of her foot. It did not occur to her to take a "before" photo because at the time I think she was not exactly expecting this to work.

"I got a huge blister on my foot last week, caused by my metal brace. It is about the size of two dollar coins next to each other. By the time I noticed it, it was bleeding and a deep wound. In the past, I would go to the doctor, get some expensive prescription medication, including a special wound mesh that costs $100, and keep off of it for two months. Instead, I just used lavender oil and tried to stay off of it. It has now been a week and it looks so much better, I am amazed!! I have had to walk on it because of graduation last week and getting my son off to college. Now I am helping my daughter move. Normally it would have gotten worse, but it is getting better. I certainly want to credit answers to our prayers, but want to share about the lavender with you."

This photo was taken about a week after she sent this email. You can see the outline of the wound. She says she only put lavender on it in the morning and evening, and put a large bandage on it.

Protocol for Baby's Severe Eczema

This is what the mother in the previous post did to treat her one-year-old baby's eczema. PLEASE do not use this as a one-size-fits all protocol; this is just to let you know what one person did, based on the child's age, degree of skin damage, and an assessment done by his naturopath. If you want professional guidance on how to treat your own case, please contact Jeanette Fransen, Naturopath.

Note that the baby is still breastfeeding and the mom eliminated all reactive foods from her diet.

The baby's mom mixes the following in a spray bottle:

10 drops Frankincense
10 drops Lavender
10 drops Melaleuca
10 drops Helichrysum
5 drops ClearSkin
45 drops fractionated coconut oil

She sprays the baby 5-10x a day, probably spraying his face even more than that, avoiding the eyes, of course.

She rubs DigestZen diluted 1:1 with fractionated coconut oil, on his belly, 3x/day. This is easiest if you put it in a roller bottle.

She rubs 1 drop of Lemon oil and one drop of diluted OnGuard on the bottoms of the baby's feet, 3x/day.

She also takes lemon oil in her water 2x/day, along with PB Assist and GX Assist, which gets into the baby via her breast milk.

Again, depending on each person's specific allergies or skin problems their protocol might differ. This is simply what worked for this child.

I will post more photos of healed skin as the mom shares them.

doTERRA Oils Heal Seriously Infected Eczema in 1-Year-Old Baby, With UPDATED Healed Photos!

June 2013: I received this text message and photos yesterday from a mom who was interested in doTERRA oils for her son's full-body infected eczema. I sent her to my naturopath and she started him on some doTERRA oils. See the next post for her full protocol.

"Thank you so much for the referral to Jeanette Fransen, Naturopath. My son's skin is finally healing after months of being raw and open. I'd been to several doctors and all they had to offer was steroids. They are absolutely not the answer. I know his skin was further damaged by the little bit of steroids I used out of desperation. After only a few days on the doTERRA oils Jeanette recommended, his skin started to heal. Truly amazing. I tried everything anyone ever recommended. I'm so glad I took Kelli's advice and called you. Thank you so much for referring me to Jeanette. My son and I are starting to get our lives back. It is hard to believe how physically and emotionally debilitating severe eczema is.  I've attached before and after pics of him so you can see first-hand the change. Thanks again!"

The top photo shows how raw and infected his skin was. The second photo shows how much better his skin has gotten after one week on the essential oils. He still is not completely healed but he is vastly improved.

August 18, 2013: The mom texted me today showing that his skin is completely healed! What a miracle!!

Metal Roller Ball Fits Directly on Oil Bottle

These metal roller balls from Young Living convert a 15ml or 5ml doTERRA bottle into a roller bottle. They fit perfectly! I bought them here:

They are really easy to install--just take out the orifice reducer, put the roller fitment in the bottle opening, and screw the lid on to snap it in place. Even though they make the bottle taller, they will still fit in the wooden doTERRA box.

They are harder to remove but I was able to do it by using a rubber jar gripper.

Tiffany's Autism Protocol: Daughter Engages in Pretend Play for the First Time!

"I apply 2 drops of Frankincense on each foot and then 1 drop Lavender on top of that. I don't do much more than a few seconds rubbing it in because she doesn't care to be massaged. I do this 2-3 times per day. I diffused 4 drops Frankincense and 2 drops Lavender while she was healing from surgery. Now that is done I am diffusing just Lavender. She is PLAYING! Like actually playing pretend with a doll! She had never played! I'm just amazed! Oh and she started saying "Frankincense" and "Lavender" and pretends to put them on her doll's feet. This is creative and engaging far beyond what I've seen before in her. I am so thankful you drove home the Frankincense message to me!!!!"

Autistic Child Becomes Affectionate

My friend in Ohio just texted me this a few minutes ago. She saw changes in her autistic preschooler within days of starting the oils. I'm sure she would be happy to tell you more if you are interested:

"My daughter has always been very defensive to touch and never ever ever cuddled or snuggled. I mean even as a newborn baby she always wanted to be laid down to be by herself! Anyway, I saw this change in her to want to be loving after we started the Frankincense. I can't attribute that change, that happened literally in a day or two, to anything else!"

DIY doTERRA Essential Oil Diffuser for $12.00

I'm so excited about this, I can hardly stand it. I have been searching for an inexpensive diffuser that prospective doTERRA users can try out before they invest in a Lotus diffuser. I have had the reasonably-priced Spa Vapor diffuser simply stop working after only a few weeks.

Well, I found this part for creating a "misting fountain" on Amazon for less than $12.00, including shipping. The reviews were mixed but it came yesterday, and it works! You just set it in a bowl of water, add oils, and plug it in.

I tried to put it in a variety of containers, such as a vase, a mug, and a teapot (hoping the mist would pour out of the spout, but that didn't work) but so far I'm getting the best results with a plain old bowl.

I found a broken torchiere lamp in the garage and I set my bowl in the glass of the lamp, and the mist pours over the edge!

I will note that this was poorly packaged and the plastic of the AC adapter was broken but it was still functional.

Also, do not leave this unattended or plugged in when not in use. And I wouldn't leave the mister sitting in the water when not in use.

I'm sure there's a way to channel the mist more directionally like in the purchased diffusers, but I haven't found it yet.

Not bad for under $12.00!

Here are some ideas I came up with using containers I already had in the house, and a few photos I found online. Keep in mind that the larger the container, the more water and EOs you will have to use. You can use a larger container for decorative and splash-containing purposes, but set a smaller dish inside it to hold the water and EOs. You can decide how much EO to use depending on the intensity of the aroma of the particular oil; I use about five drops per 1/4 cup of water.

Pagoda Birdhouse Diffuser: Ideally you want something that will block the vertical splashes, so these pagoda birdhouses that I found online would be great.

Potted Plant Diffuser: Set a small dish amongst the greenery, and your plants get misted at the same time!

Asian Garden Diffuser: Set this little pagoda on a dish with some rocks. The pagoda keeps the splashes down and allows mist to flow out the sides. You would want a pagoda with longer legs, but you get the idea.

Watering Can Diffuser: I think this would look great in a galvanized metal watering can.

I'm-A-Little Teapot Diffuser: This teapot was only seven dollars at Ross. When I bought it I didn't realize it looked like Aladdin's lamp....

Silver Bowl with Beach Rocks Diffuser: I put a clear glass bowl inside this silver one and I think it works well with the white beach rocks.

I have to say that the more creative I try to get with containers, the more "trippy" these things look, but you get the idea. And, not gonna lie--I would much rather have a "misting fountain" that didn't have colors or lights at all, but for $12 including shipping, who's complaining? What I've posted here is just a sampling of ideas that scratch the surface, and I think that there are many creative ways to conceal the cord and make these look really great!

Success Treating Yeast Infection with Oils

A few hours after I posted the info about Candida, a friend of mine shared this great experience with me:

After feeling for a day or so that I was starting to get a yeast infection, I decided to look up remedies on everythingessential.me.  I was directed to the Candida Cleanse protocol, which is part diet and part oil usage. I decided to try out the oil usage part and started taking 5 drops lemon, 5 drops melaleuca, and 3 drops oregano in a capsule, 2x/day. By the end of the second day doing this I could tell that it was starting to go away, and by the fourth day it was almost entirely gone. I will continue to take these oils for probably six days or so, to make sure it's really cleared up. It was great to not have to run to Target and spend money to put more chemicals in my body; instead, I used what I had on hand, and it worked! Hurray for being able to fix something on your own!

Healing the "Incurable"

In the past ten days, the following successes have been reported to me by friends who are using essential oils. When I first started using the oils, my experience with the products was limited, and when I didn't have immediate success addressing an issue, I thought that maybe the oils weren't as great as I'd thought. Now with a lot more experience and that of my friends under my belt, I am seeing at LEAST a 50% success rate with the very first protocol we've tried, and greater than that as we try more things. Here's a list of recent successes:

L, who has had facial paralysis for 6 years due to Bell's Palsy (her right eye would close every time she chewed so she always wore sunglasses when she ate!) came over yesterday and told me that within a week or so of taking Frankincense internally her paralysis has improved so much that her eye no longer closes when she chews. She has been using some other doTERRA oils as well but the Frankincense was the latest addition.

Several other friends have reported dramatic decreases in tantrums and anxiety in their autistic kids, usually by using Balance and Serenity ("liquid Xanax") together . My autistic 11-year-old son's tantrums and self-injury have decreased so much that I am able to relax and enjoy him, and have started potty training him. (Previously trying to get him to sit on the toilet was too dangerous for me as he is 5'2" now and strong.) He is taking Frankincense, and two other oils internally and we both use Citrus Bliss in the diffuser every day.

J's large plantar wart (the "before" photo is near the beginning of my blog, mindoterra.blogspot.com) is completely gone. It took about six weeks of applying straight oregano oil twice a day. She said in the past six years she has used two bottles of commercial wart remover and two wart kits, with no results. I saw her at the beach this week and she showed me her foot and it is completely clear.

K used the ClearSkin blend to heal toenail fungus.

A's husband has not refilled his Xanax prescription in six weeks. He is using lavender and a variety of the mood oils.

A also treated a urinary tract infection without antibiotics.

A had been using InTune with her nine-year-old son who is on meds for ADHD but stopped for a while because she doesn't enjoy the scent (it contains Patchouli). When his behavior escalated to the point that she was considering increasing his meds, she decided to give the InTune another try (this time she applied it to the bottoms of his feet and the base of his spine where the scent is not as prominent). The tantrum instantly stopped.

M treated her sinus infection with Melaleuca in a neti pot; her husband had the same ailment and chose to treat it with antibiotics.

V used Clove oil to heal a canker sore in one day.

N's toddler daughter had explosive tantrums and a debilitating OCD behavior. After two days of using InTune, the OCD ritual completely disappeared, and N is also able to get a tantrum to stop immediately by putting InTune near her daughter's nose.

T has struggled with anxiety and ADD her whole life. A couple of months ago, she came to me very depressed and I put Citrus Bliss in the diffuser and placed it right next to her. She perked up in thirty seconds while I taught her about the oils. She started taking the Lifelong Vitality Pack (vitamins with oils in them) and a few other oils every day and told me she was feeling much better immediately. I saw her a few days ago and she told me that she had stopped using any chemical cleaning products and cosmetics a few weeks ago, and that practice combined with the oils had reduced her anxiety a lot. Then, recently, after having been "clean" for a few weeks, she put a commercial cream that someone had given her, on her face. She immediately when into an anxious, disorganized panic, with thoughts racing. (It is clear that she is very sensitive to chemicals and this was a great lesson to me about how powerful these things can be to our kids, and I was grateful that she could articulate it.) She went outside to a local park, picked a few lavender flowers and held them to her nose and was able to clear her head! She has struggled with severe anxiety her whole life and I have never seen her so healthy as I did this week.

I'm trying to protect people's privacy by not using names but if you want to speak to someone directly about their experience, I will connect you with him or her.

I almost didn't write this because I'm busy and there are so many things to report that it gets cumbersome, but I figured it was important to share the information. To see the look in L's eyes yesterday when she showed me how her facial paralysis is improving after six years of suffering, motivates me to keep opening my mouth. Almost every time I talk to someone who is using the oils, they have a new experience to report. These oils have been programmed with natural chemicals that are designed to heal us, and I am so grateful.

Powerful ADHD/InTune Testimonial

My friend, Aimee, just posted this on her facebook page this morning:

I am eating my words about InTune. I felt like something else would work better than InTune for my son's severe ADHD because I was bothered by the patchouli scent that it left on him. I opted to just quit putting it on him. Little by little, his behavior got worse and worse until I was starting to think we'd have to do something drastic like change his meds again. I prayed about what to do and decided to read some more about the various oils to try. It became evident very quickly that InTune would be the best course of action. This morning, it was clearly going to be another melt-down, grumpy kind of day with him. I stopped myself in my tracks before saying a word, applied InTune to his lower spine and the bottoms of his feet (no strong odor there!!!), and waited. Literally within minutes I had my sweet little boy back. I've never seen a turnaround like that before. If your child has ADHD as severe as mine, I STRONGLY recommend the InTune. It was an answer to my prayers this morning.

My Report to My Pediatrician Friend

At the end of last week, after the best few weeks I'd ever had with my autistic son, including seven hours with no self-injurious behavior attempts, all of which I credit do doTERRA essential oils, I sent the following email to my friend who is a pediatrician in another state.

doTERRA just unveiled a web site with a searchable database of many studies that have been done on essential oils: aromaticscience.com. Below is a link to just one of them that you might find interesting. The company is actively partnering with hospitals and research institutions to study the benefits of essential oils.

Meanwhile, I am conducting my own experiments. To prepare for a mood management class I taught today, one week ago I gave samples of some doTERRA mood management oil blends to a few friends who have kids with explosive temper tantrums and/or are on the autism spectrum. One three-year-old-girl stopped her habitual hair-smoothing ritual when I gave her a sample roller bottle of InTune and had her mom let her use it as often as she wanted. Within two days the ritual behavior completely stopped. In addition, the mother was able to stop a huge tantrum two days in a row just by placing the oil near her daughter's nose. (These tantrums have been such a problem for her that the mom went online and studied cases of the worst temper tantrums, and said her daughter's were worse than the worst.)

Another friend stopped her autistic son's tantrums instantly, two days in a row, by applying one drop of Balance to the bottom of each foot.

A third friend, with two autistic sons, was able to correct one son's insomnia by applying Serenity and Lavender at bedtime. He also used to eat only ten foods and now he is open to many other foods and vegetable purees. His brother would have huge temper tantrums all the way home from school on the bus if the bus driver changed. His mom got the school to apply Balance and Serenity to his collarbone before he got on the bus, and it completely fixed this problem. In addition, she has a baby son who was starting to show autistic behaviors such as visual stims, and she has been able to quell those with several oils suggested by our naturopath. This has all happened in less than two months.

I also have a friend in Connecticut with about ten medical and emotional issues who I sent some samples to. A couple of the issues she had were daily headaches for which she has taken OTC meds for years, and a painful frozen shoulder. It wasn't even my idea but she decided to apply lavender oil to her head and her shoulder and it helped the pain immediately and about a week later she told me her shoulder hardly hurts at all.

I haven't even told you everything. There were so many amazing things that happened this week that I wanted to share, and especially wanted you to see the new science site. I emailed your wife about a week or so ago about the improvements my son has made since he started taking Frankincense internally. My friend with Lyme and intractable seizure clusters has not had a seizure since Thanksgiving, when she started using Frankincense. The president of doTERRA, David Sterling's, youngest daughter's seizures are controlled to this day with Frankincense, when they would not respond to meds. Her story is documented here:

Lavender Heals 5-Year Headache

I sent some samples to my friend in Connecticut who has a pretty long list of ailments in her household. A few days later, she posted on Facebook to thank me and doTERRA for giving her the first day without a headache in five years!

I phoned her to find out what she used--I hadn't even given her the headache blend (PastTense). What she told me was even more impressive: She has had pain and stiffness from frozen shoulder for several years, and she read that Lavender was analgesic so she rubbed some on her shoulder and it felt better. Then she figured she might as well rub some on her temples and neck and the five-year headache went away! She didn't need to use any headache meds yesterday!

A to Z Guide Hotline

I think I gave everyone a copy of a little square booklet entitled Essential Oil Usage Guide: A to Z. (If I didn't, let me know and I'll give you one.) It has an alphabetical listing of more than 250 ailments with oil suggestions. There is also a phone number at the top of each page and an extension number next to each ailment. I didn't think much of this until I tried calling the number today. The recording you get is of a real person telling a real success story, in detail, of taking care of an ailment with the oils. It is not a robo-voice. I want to listen to every single call now--it is so interesting and inspiring. If you don't have the book in hand, call the number 951-262-3880. This morning I listened to the ones about ADD/ADHD (x205), bleeding (x213--loved this but make sure to clean with melaleuca first), and depression (x237).

The A to Z guide can be purchased in packets of ten from aromatools.com.

A Friend's Testimonial About Lavender for Insomnia

A friend who has been using doTERRA for a couple of months emailed this to me:

"One of the most powerful doTerra experiences I've had (besides anything I've already told you about) is using Lavender to sleep. Every once in a while I can't sleep. I'm up all night no matter what I do. It's not very often but it ruins the next couple of days when it does happen. One night I remembered that I had lavender and I put it on my wrists and neck. I fell asleep within 5 minutes. I tested it again last night when I couldn't get to sleep and it was past 1 am. It worked again within minutes. Just wanted to pass that along. :)"

Become an Everyday Oil Expert Video

This is a great introduction to how to incorporate the oils into daily life.

The ABCs of LRP

The Loyalty Rewards Program (LRP) is a way to earn free product credits and qualify for commission. I have explained this a lot to people recently and thought it would help to provide this simple chart (attached, and below):

10PV allows you to keep your accrued points*
50PV allows you to keep earning points
100PV qualifies you for commission
125PV before the 15th gets you the product of the month

*The policy actually states that 1PV is the minimum to maintain your points. As far as I know, the lowest PV item you can buy is the lip balm at 4PV.

(In April the product of the month is a 5ml DigestZen.)

Every three months the rate at which you earn free product increases.

You can change the shipping date and the products on your order until 24 hours before it is due to ship. You can create multiple LRP orders and then cancel them as long as you always have one set up. Those of us who are on an LRP never have a reason to make a standard order again. An LRP is like a standard order except that you assign a date to it and you earn product credits for everything you buy.

The return is great for doing your shopping on an LRP and the risk is low since you only have to commit to a 10PV order to keep your points. I was suspicious of this for several months until I understood it.

There is a more detailed explanation of LRP at http://www.mydoterra.com/mindychiou/companyLoyaltyRewardsProgram.html

Spa Vapor Diffuser Breaks

Never mind my recommendation for the $35 diffuser from Amazon. As several reviews warned, it broke after a short time. Let me know if anyone finds another inexpensive one....

I Sealed up a Paper Cut with Helichrysum!

This stuff really works! I got a cut on my knuckle which I cleaned with a drop of melaleuca, then put a drop of helichrysum on it and an hour later it is fused together and I can bend my finger without the cut splitting open again. This sounds too good to be true but it is true. Incredible.

Testimonial from a 9-Year-Old Boy

This just came in from my friend, CJ, who is such a fan of the oils that he read the doTERRA magazine from cover-to-cover and came up with this great list. He graciously agreed to write about his experiences and let me post them here:

"My most favorite oil is Citrus Bliss because it smells REALLY good. I love the oils because they are soothing and relaxing (Lavender or Wild Orange). I kind of like all the aromas that all the oils have. At school, it (inTune) helps me by keeping me focused on my work. Sometimes the toothpaste gets a little spicy and sometimes it doesn't, but it keeps my teeth clean from getting cavities and I learned in the magazine that it can also make my nails white. I want all of the oils to be my very own, especially Citrus Bliss. Tomorrow I will try Balance."

Hot off the Press: Another Wart Removal Testimonial

Warts bring people together, don't they?! This email just came from my friend, Aimee:

A friend of mine mentioned that her daughter had been battling warts on her feet for a while. They were getting ready to consider having a podiatrist cut them off, which would have been very painful. OUCH! I remembered the link you posted to my timeline and made her a little bottle of lemon and frankincense. I just got the following reply from her:

"The oil was like a miracle. My daughter's warts are gone! I'm not kidding. We have been fighting them since September including three attempts to burn them off, several different ointments and gels and many dollars spent. About 10 days of the oil and they're gone. It's a miracle."

I asked Aimee how much oil she gave her, if she used a roller bottle, carrier oil, etc. All she did was put a few drops of each in a tiny sample bottle and her friend just dabbed it on! No carrier oil, no roller bottle, just a few drops. This is so cool.

How to Treat MRSA with OnGuard

My health coach has treated MRSA successfully in herself and others. Here is the information she gave me for my friend whose son has it on a small area of his leg. This protocol could be different if it is on a larger area of the body--consult a professional for more info.

--Drop doTERRA OnGuard essential oil blend directly on the area 3-5 times per day. You can also saturate a piece of gauze or bandaid and leave it on. You should see a difference pretty quickly.

--If the person can swallow pills, put several drops of OnGuard, Thyme, and Melaleuca in an empty gel capsule and swallow three times a day.

--If the person can't swallow pills, put the above mixture in a roller bottle and apply to the bottoms of the feet at least three times a day.

--Also add a drop of OnGuard to a large glass of water and have the child drink it, several times a day. You can call it Superman Water or Tinkerbell Water--whatever you need to do to get them to drink it. You could also add it to juice or make frozen juice pops with OnGuard in them.

--Diffuse OnGuard in the home.

--Use all of the OnGuard cleaning products in the home.
